 Stuart Targe
  • Made for the re-enactor and decorator, the Stuart Targe replicates a piece dating to the '45 Jacobite rising and the original is said to have been made as a gift for Bonnie Prince Charlie. Construction is tooled leather over wood with a goatskin backing and silver plated decorations. The arm strap and hand grip are leather covered. Like the original, the targe is about 19" in diameter. Rob Roy Targe
  • The Scots Targe used by the highlanders as a defense against both arrows and hand weapons was light and maneuverable, often concealing a left-hand held dirk. Our Rob Roy Targe has patterns dating to the ‘45 Jacobite Rising. This piece is beautifully made, with tooled leather over wood and a goatskin backing. The Rob Roy Targe has spikes which screw into the central boss, with sheaths for the spikes attached to the back of the Targe, which is equipped with a leather covered arm strap and hand grip. The Rob Roy Targe has brass decoration, and like the original is approximately 19” in diameter.

Buckler
  • The combination of the sword and buckler was extensively used during the Middle Ages. Typically, bucklers are small hand shields that are held by a fist-grip and are light and fast. They can be used to deflect blows or deliver punches. For those wishing to build their own medieval shield the domed shape and size of the buckler also lend it to use as a boss for many different shield styles
